Hello,
Has anyone heard of or have any tips for sealing the self bailing holes with tape or something similar?
I recently purchased a self bailer alpacka gnarmule but would like the option to plug the holes for flat water adventures where I don’t want to get wet.
Let me know!
I haven’t used my Gnarwhal yet on flat water but I do plan to use tape on the exterior side to cover the holes when I do…I’ve thought about avoiding Tyvek since hard to remove and instead using clear packing tape when I’ll be in clear waters (with a double width to help with seal) or water proof/gorilla tape in situations where I need more confidence it won’t leak…
I used duct tape to tape the bailing holes on my boats last season (classic & wolverine). I tapped both the inside and outside (top & bottom). I did this on the last run of season when the water was getting colder, as was the air temp. It worked well for my buddy in the classic, but not as well for me. I had my ~60# dog in my bow and my boat ended up becoming a bathtub. Regardless, the tape removed very easily and helped keep my buddy dry.
