Removing sharpie from a boat?

I just got a secondhand scout for my sons and girlfriend to try out packrafting.

The previous owner put his name on the boat in sharpie.

Any suggestions on something that would remove the sharpie and not damage the boat?

that depends on the material.

for most materials acetone nail polish remover lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol works. just soak a rag and wipe off.

for fabrics you might need to spray soak with the above “solvents”

to test just use a white cloth soaked with your preferred solvent and give a few wipes if the cloth is tinted then dont use it switch.


I work with removing sharpie from many different surfaces in my job as a carpenter cabinetmaker and solid surface fabricator.
