Packrafting in the Yukon - what about bears?!

We are visiting the Yukon in August and tossing up a pack rafting adventure vs a more traditional canoe trip. In a canoe, you can of course take plastic barrels which apparently protect food and gear from bears… We are from New Zealand so this is new to us… What do locals do to be safe around bears on rivers within reach of Whitehorse? Any advice gratefully received!

Not really an issue. Unless you are in Kluane park, then a bear barrel is mandatory by their rules. Just keep things clean and make lots of noise while hiking.
