Packraft approach/raft-out climbing trip

Hi Folks,

Greetings from the UK! Looking for some across the pond advice…

Trying to get some ideas together for a Packraft/climbing trip in either the USA or Canada, summer months so not the Desert preferably.

We would like an objective to climb, something that will take us at least a day to climb so 350m+, ideally 500m - 1000m moderate difficulty of around 5.10a. This is the easy bit…

The hard part is finding an objective that we can link with a fun river approach, class II/III max (we’ll have heavy packs). Up to 10 days for the trip, not including flying in etc… We’ve done a few trips in South America but never the States, would like to avoid the summer madness and crowds, which seems to be the crux of the planning.

Any advice hugely appreciated,

Tom

Am guessing that you are already very aware of The Cirque of the Unclimbables, The Lotus Tower Flower and the Nahanni River in Canada.

I believe the trip has been done at least a couple of times by packrafters with perhaps the first expedition in 2004.

The latest group to do it that I have heard of is: http://www.kokopellipackraft.com/blog-2/2016/11/22/northern-sanctuary-a-packrafting-and-climbing-journey-in-northern-canadas-nahanni-national-park
