Hi all! I’m looking for a partner or small group for the classic Canyonlands Figure 8 sometime in spring 2027, probably late March–April depending on permits, conditions, and schedules.
I’m interested in the classic route involving hiking/scrambling plus the flatwater packrafting sections on the Colorado and Green Rivers — not Cataract Canyon or whitewater.
A little about me: I’m 37, based in the Bay Area, and have a lot of backpacking, off-trail, and solo backcountry experience. I’m comfortable with Class 3-ish canyon scrambling, but I’m not looking for technical canyoneering or fixed-line rappels. I’m newer to packrafting and moving water, and I have an Alpacka Caribou which I have only used on flat water. I’m considering taking an introductory packrafting/swiftwater course beforehand.
I’d love to find someone who is similarly self-sufficient and interested in planning the trip collaboratively. I’d also be very open to doing a shorter shakedown trip together beforehand.
I’ll likely be spending 2–3 weeks in Utah, so there may be opportunities to coordinate other adventures as well.
