I broke in my new raft this past weekend floating from the Sterling Highway bridge to Kasilof Beach on the inlet. It was an easy first float but a good one for testing out some gear. The water was pretty shallow near the bridge and I had to walk the raft a little ways. Lots of floating ice but nothing to worry about.
I did the Kasilof yesterday. Put in at the upper boat launch at Slackwater just below the lake and ended up at Cook Inlet, Cohoe Beach. As you know the water level is still pretty low with peak water level being right around the end of August. Moosehead Rapids was fun but Silver Salmon Rapids really didn’t have enough water yet.
