After hearing about dangerous three hour portages involving multiple haulage systems on the Franklin river, I wonder if zip lines might be a viable and much more fun way of portaging a difficult rapids?
You would need good rocks to anchor the lines into on each side, a couple of rollers that you could pull back up after they are sent down and live somewhere that you won’t be sued if something goes wrong (or do it anonymously). I guess you would also have to do it somewhere that the river is unlikely to wash it away in flood (could be detached). Could even just be used for gear?
Any thoughts?
