Salomon Geckos any good?

Anyone have any experience with Salomon Geckos (http://www.backcountry.com/salomon-rx-gecko-shoe-mens?ti=U2VhcmNoIFJlc3VsdHM6Z2Vja286MToyOmdlY2tv&skid=SAL2478-DETRD-S85)? I’ve been looking for a shoe that I can use for a one-shoe approach to packrafting trips (i.e., backpack/float/camp). My goal is to simplify and save weight. I noted on Forrest McCarthy’s blog that he recommends the Techamphibian 3s, which look interesting, but I’m not sure about the heel closure (several reviewers claim that it slips frequently and needs readjusting). The Gecko looks like a similar shoe, but with more of a traditional heel. My plan would be to wear hydroskins in them on the water and then wear wool socks at night. Any thoughts? Any alternatives that people recommend? I’m thinking quick drain, quick dry, reasonable support for ultralight backpacking trips.
