Safety First

A tip of the hat to Forrest and Roman for promoting safety training specific to packrafting. Packrafting is just coming onto the radar screen of public land managers. It is essential that we collectively present a safety-conscious image. It would be hugely unfortunate if land managers perceive packrafters as reckless renegades to be reigned in or barred from public rivers.

I’ve seen too many folks paddling without helmets and PFD’s. In fact there is a video on this website of park rangers boating in whitewater without PFD’s or helmets in a national park. There is never an excuse for not wearing some type of PFD.

Get with the safety program, or the program will get without us.
