Rancheria Kern run

Monday and Tuesday, April 4th & 5th I will be packrafting the Rancheria Road Bridge section of what I call the lower, lower, lower, Kern River in SoCal. This is a nice tree lined class II and II+ run of about six miles through the hills (rocky at low flows). At this point in time there is only one other boat (a 10’ Otter) going. If anyone can get the week days off and wishes to join us you are welcome to do so (with your boat).

We will meet at the Rancheria Road Bridge put-in parking lot (drive down from the road on the left, on the hill before crossing the bridge) at 10:00 am Monday morning. Monday evening we plan to camp at the Ming Lake public campground and eat dinner in town. Tuesday morning we can either repeat the run or leave for home (bring breakfast snacks). Anyone from the general SoCal area can also do this as a one day drive up, do the river, and drive home trip. Rancheria Road takes off to the left just before the highway starts up into the Kern Canyon.

This is a nice early season run with warmer weather than the usual mountain Kern runs, because of the altitude of only a few hundred feet above sea level.
