White Salmon River, WA

Three of us (two packrafts, one kayak) floated the BZ corner to Husum Falls section of the White Salmon River just across the Columbia from Hood River last weekend. This is a perfect moderately difficult packraft (PR 3-4+) run late season when the water is low. There are probably 12-20 rapids in the Class II to III+ range and it makes for a great two hour float. I also ran Husum Falls, which is a blast, but is big enough that I am not sure whether you could ever consistently run it clean in a packraft (I didn’t.) Here is a link to a photo sequence of going over the falls taken by a local photographer who posts them online for purchase: http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/thumbpage.aspx?e=5229109 It’s a great August/September run if you live in the area or are ever coming through.
