Recommendations for Oregon/WA October

I’m flying down for a conference in Corvallis in early October and plan to bring my packraft. The friend I’m going with would be new to packrafting (and may or may not be able to borrow a drysuit). I have considerable whitewater experience, but wouldn’t want to do more than II+ with a beginner. Any recommendations for trips within the 1-4 day range in Oregon or WA?

Many thanks!

Soggy Sneakers is a paddling guide to the rivers of Oregon. Check Google for availability.

October has minimal flows so check out good sized rivers. That makes overnight backcountry trips hard to do, but check sections of the Deschutes R. Only a freight rail line parallels its lower portions and the flows are relatively consistent all year.

What days will you be in the Portland area?
