Pasayten River?

Post by louistully » Thu Jan 15, 2015 12:19 pm

Has anyone scouted out the Pasayten River area in the North Cascades? Judging from the terrain, trail network and location there might be potential for a nice pack rafting and backpacking trip in this beautiful wilderness area. My biggest concern as I look at Google Maps is wood.

Has anyone been in that area? Any beta on that river? I'm looking specifically at the Middle fork and the main river. Possibly a float down the Middle fork then a hike back along Buckhorn Ridge, or the ridge on the eastern side of that valley?

Glancing at the maps, one may be able to float all the way to Hwy 3 in B.C.! Do they have border agents at wilderness rivers? :)

Browing around Google I discovered this river as well. Did you ever run it? Anybody else?

No, I did not. I did backpack a section of the Middle Fork last summer. Lots of wood and little water in August, but I didn't make further downstream than just below Fred's Lake.
