Just back from TdP and O'Higgins NP

Hi all,

We’ve just returned from packrafting adventure in Patagonia. Basically, we make W-trek in TdP, then rafted down Rio Grey and Rio Serrano, went the Rio Tyndall up to the Lago Tyndall, crossed the Lago, cut through jungles to Lago Geiki, crossed it, cut through jungles to Lago Balmaceda, crossed it and a couple of other lakes (got ourselves into a storm in a lake with lots of icebergs, was cool!), again cut through jungles to Seno Ultima Esperanza and paddled the fjord to Puerto Toro. About 200km in 2 weeks.

A couple of sprayskirt rings malfunctioned (so we had to give up the end of the route, which was to paddle 30+ km in the windy fjord and cross Peninsula Antonio Varas to Puerto Natales), the rest was just cool. It was our first packrafting trip, we plan to continue. See ya in Greenland!

Any piccies/blog etc. Sounds an amazing trip.

Bugger. I have recently deleted my face book account. I’m at a stage of life (50yo) where I don’t embrace what Facebook involves. I look fwd to seeing your Vimeo sometime.

Hey,

Sorry to dig up an old thread: I am looking for beta on packrafting in Torres del Paine area. I will be in TdP for a couple of weeks in January and bringing a packraft would be great. Could you share your sources, maps, river descriptions? Specifically, I am looking for safe and fun class II/II+ runs.

Thanks in advance!

I’m planning to head there around Jan/Feb as well and will be bringing my packraft, solo most likely. Shoot me a PM, maybe we can meet up or share info?

Cheers!

Headed down with friends in Late Jan with rafts! Going to be insane.

Any advice would be appreciated.
